Recover missing disk space

This guide explains how to extend your Windows system partition to use all available disk space after upgrading your server.

Prerequisites​

  • Administrator access to your Windows server
  • Active RDP connection

Volume extension procedure​

  1. Connect to your Windows server via RDP
  2. Open Disk Management:
    • Press Windows + X
    • Select "Disk Management"
    • Or type "diskmgmt.msc" in Windows search

  1. Locate the C: partition to extend
  2. Right-click on the C: partition and select "Extend Volume"

  1. In the extension wizard:
    • Click "Next" without modifying the proposed values
    • The wizard will automatically use all available space

  1. Click "Finish" to apply the changes

Finish operation

Note: The operation is instantaneous and does not require a restart.

Verification​

Once the extension is complete, you can verify that the new size is correctly applied in Disk Management.
